How to measure for a stone top quote

3 minute read

You don't need exact measurements for a quote, just good rough ones and a few details. The final measurements are always taken before anything is cut. Here's what to send.

Kitchen countertops

  • Measure the length of each straight run along the wall, in millimetres. For an L or U shape, measure each leg to the corner.
  • Measure the depth. Most kitchen tops in South Africa are about 600 mm deep to cover standard base cabinets.
  • Measure the island or breakfast bar separately, and note any overhang for bar stools.
  • Mark where the sink and hob go, and tell us the sink type (undermount or drop-in) and model if you know it.
  • Note any splashbacks you want, and their height.

Vanities, tables and other pieces

  • Vanity: the width and depth of the cabinet or space, the number of basins and where the taps go.
  • Table: the shape, the length and width (or diameter), and whether you have a base.
  • Stairs: the number of steps and the width and depth of each tread.
  • Sills and cladding: the width and height or depth of each piece.

Photos help more than you think

A quick sketch with your measurements and a few photos of the space tell us most of what we need, including things that change the quote, like a wall that isn't straight or a corner with no support. Send them on WhatsApp after your quote message.

General information only. Natural stone varies from slab to slab, so ask us about the specific stone and colour you choose. Caesarstone is a registered trademark of Caesarstone Ltd.
