What we make

Kitchen countertops and islands

Countertops, islands and breakfast bars, cut to your kitchen with the sink and hob cut-outs done for you.

The kitchen countertop is the hardest working surface in the house. It takes hot pots, chopping, spills and daily cleaning, so the stone you choose matters as much as how it looks.

We cut countertops, islands and breakfast bars to your kitchen's measurements, shape the edges and make the cut-outs for your sink, hob and taps, so the top drops into place on your cabinets.

What we make

  • Straight, L-shaped and U-shaped countertops
  • Kitchen islands and breakfast bars
  • Sink cut-outs for undermount and drop-in sinks
  • Hob cut-outs and tap holes
  • Matching splashbacks and window sills
  • Thicker-looking mitred edges on islands

Which stone?

Choosing the stone for kitchen countertops

Our first suggestion

Granite

A strong all-round kitchen stone. It handles heat well and household acids don't mark it. Seal it to protect against stains.

About Granite

Quartz surface

Caesarstone

Even colour and pattern, and no sealing needed. Always use a trivet under hot pots, as Caesarstone advises.

About Caesarstone

Natural stone

Marble

Possible, but lemon juice, vinegar and wine leave dull marks on marble. Choose it if you're happy for the top to age with use.

Questions

Common questions

How deep is a standard kitchen countertop?

Most kitchen tops in South Africa are about 600 mm deep to cover standard base cabinets, with a small overhang at the front. Islands and breakfast bars vary, so measure the space and we'll work from your sizes.

Will my countertop have a join?

It depends on the length of each run and the slab size. Caesarstone's standard slab is 3050 mm by 1440 mm, and natural stone slab sizes vary. Long runs and L-shapes usually need a join. We'll show you where it falls when we quote.

Can you cut for an undermount sink?

Yes. Tell us the sink model or its size when you ask for a quote, and whether you're supplying it, so the cut-out matches.
